Getting the fit right when making a pair of trousers can seem impossible, but with this workshop you will be guided through the various skills and techniques required to get that great fit!
Choose from two different patterns to suit your shape and style
The Free Range Slacks are casual, comfortable, and timeless high-waisted pants with your choice of a wide or tapered leg. Both options have an elastic high waist, side panels, topstitched front pockets, and optional back patch pocket(s).
The Emerson pattern is a pull-on crop pant or short with an elasticized back and flat front waistband. Views A and B have a mid rise that sits just below the natural waist. Views C and D have a high rise that sits over the belly button. All views have front pleats and side pockets. Views A and C are a cropped, wide leg pant, hitting a couple of inches above the ankle. Views B and D are a short with an approximate 4 inch inseam.
The workshop will generally follow this plan:
To start with you will discuss your patterns, you will be taught how to measure properly and how to choose which size to do based on those measurements. From there you will be guided through tracing your pattern and how to make any initial pattern adjustments. You will then cut out your pattern pieces in your toiling fabric. You will then sew up your toile ready for it to be fitted to you after lunch.
In the afternoon you will learn how to evaluate the fit of your toile and how to adjust it to get your trousers looking exactly as you want them. You will then learn how to make the relevant adjustments to your paper pattern. At this point you will now be able to cut your trousers out in your actual fabric, either in the workshop or at home ready for the second day.
On the second day you will be sewing up your trousers in your final fabric. There will be short demonstrations of skills throughout as well as individual support.
